Topic starter

My parents recently bought a 2020 Rav4. We live in the desert of Southern California and want to protect the headlights before they even start to yellow. I was thinking of applying 2k clear coat. Is that a good way to go? IF SO, WHAT IS THE PROCESS I SHOULD DO TO APPLY CLEAR COAT? OR SHOULD I USE MEGUIARS KEEP CLEAR HEADLIGHT SPRAY AS DIRECTED ON THE CAN?

Headlight clear film is what you need. Don't spray them with clear coat.

Hey MrRangerZr1... which brand names of headlight clear film (VViViD, Lamin-x, etc.) have you had success with? Seeing tons of options online and wondering if there is much difference in quality. I'm looking to protect new headlight assemblies. Thanks.

lamin-x is terrible. xpel is best.

This is why I never want to give up my sealed beam glass headlights. So durable, and you get a new lens every time the bulb burns out, for only $10!

Mine are only $7 each! {black}:grinning:

@doc you win! I pay extra Canada tax so the government can nanny me.

That is a royal bummer!

There are also clip on clear protectors you can buy

@mountainmanjoe
thanks! It's the one video I didn't click that had the answers I need!

There was another headlight protection product Scotty talked about once, but I can't find the video. It may have been a product that was used to protect aviation glass? Does anyone remember this? Thanks.

You might be thinking of Plexus. I haven't tried it because all of my vehicles have glass headlights.

There all plastic now i dont think anything will protect them long term as thell get sand blasted the yellowing isvyhe plastic degrading cheap plastic basically you could take them to a place that tints windows and get a clear tint fitted to the glass so when it wears you take it off and replace it clear coat will crack and look crap eventually or come off in bits

@ivanhoo
Thanks! 👍
