Someone please give me some insight on this if you could. I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris, LS 4 door. Since the car was about 6/7 years old, when it would get colder outside, the serpentine belt would screech horribly at the first push on the gas. Sometimes it would go away, most times, as the car idles, it’s fine, but when the gas is pressed from a stop, it would screech horribly every time. Previous owner (family member) destroyed the engine. The belt broke and they continued to drive it. I got it , replaced the engine, and the new engine has about 110k miles on it. The old engine was about 90k at the time of issue, and engine replacement.
After the new engine was replaced, the car ran great, but after about 6 months, the belt started screeching again until the car overheated, and I noticed that the water pump went out. A local garage fixed it, and always tried to help me by giving me the best deal, but I’m not necessarily sure it was what is best for the car. Since the initial water pump issue I’ve had 6 water pumps, and 5 alternators put on the car in a 3 years period. I have looked up different articles and videos and nothing is really helpful. What could be the main source of this issue? I know the car is not necessary a great car, but there has to be something causing all these issues. FYI there is no tensioner on the belt.
Please help!
one possibility could be that the tensioner might not be adjusted correctly. Find another mechanic.
