Hi Scotty,
I currently own a Diesel Cummins power stroke engine 2008 Chevy Silverado f-250, just over 250,000 miles on it. Recently had some issues with power steering going out. We replaced power steering pump and the pulley after the belt broke. Overall still runs pretty well considering age and mileage. My question is, is it worth to hang on to it (wife is driving it with the kids) or is it time to sell while we can make some money on it and buy the family a Subaru ascent 2020? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Looking to drive another 200,000 miles before having to think about another vehicle.
Clarification: Is this a Silverado or an F-250?
Pardon my wife, she wrote the message. It is NOT a Cummins power stroke. Not sure how she came up with that one.
It is a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 duramax
Also, 2004 not 2008
And all of that is hilarious! May not want to send her to the repair shop alone....... {black}:laughingoutloud:
Haha! Right? Ok thank you for the advice. Appreciate it!
I'll say this, and I am by no means a pro, but if you're already considering selling (and based on the issues already outlined, you seem to be), I think it's best to send it off if you can find a buyer. If your wife is driving it around with children, the last thing you want is for her to be traveling down the highway and the power steering go out. If a 2020 Ascent is on your radar, it would seem that's the way to go. That said, it employs a CVT and no one here is a fan of those from what I can tell. I know I am not. I might suggest checking out something like a Mazda CX-9 if there isn't a Toyota or Honda model of interest to you like the Highlander or Pilot. Good luck to you!
