Hi Scotty, I have a 2018 F-150 Lariat 3.5 EcoBoost with 33,500 kms (21,000miles) on it and I love it. I can get great money for it right now so should I use that to get into a 2021 hybrid PowerBoost F-150? It seems to be the next generation of techno...
See Scotty’s response below: he’s not a fan of new hybrid designs, and he is right.

With the Powerboost, I just see more complexity (and potential for issues) combining a 3.5L twin turbo charged V6 (3.5L Ecoboost engine) - already a complex engine - with a hybrid-electric system mated to a 10-speed AT (jury still out on longevity of that transmission). Ford has never been known for making the best electrified powertrains, and this is the first year of the new electrified powertrain option - why be a guinea pig for it especially when Ford is not even paying you to test for them? So I remain skeptical of the Ford 3.5L Powerboost, and new technology is not always a good thing.
Finally, if something goes wrong down the line out of warranty with the system it will be difficult to find a mechanic competent to work on it, not to mention costly, and if you have to go to the dealer they will charge a lot (and then do you really trust they fixed the issue?). Let’s give it a few years and see what problems they have.
There's no way I would buy a new F150, especially a Hybrid.
simply no.
