High milage oil

Hey Mr. Scotty

I am driving an 05 Cadillac Srx with aprox. 186k miles with the v6 engine.  I just watched an older video of yours that suggests not to change older cars engine oil to high milage oil due to oil leaks.  My vehicle is leaking oil so the Prolube guys suggested a thicker oil and I caved.

What should I do,  keep the thicker oil or can I go back to the manufacturer suggested 5w30

BTW:  the leak seems to come from the oil fill port tube?!

Do not use thicker oils. Stick to the manufacturer's recommendation for the oil viscosity.

If you have a leak, fix it. Don't try to band aid it by using a thicker oil. Stick to the manufacturer's recommendation and have the proper repair completed.
