I just bought a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 4.0L v6 with an automatic transmission, I took it to the dealer and they gave said it had no problems, just a lot of miles. It sounds and feels like it’s running well, but I’m not really an expert, is there any preventative maintenance I should do on it, or just leave it until something goes wrong?
note: the dealer did find some issues, worn breaks, bad idler pulley and belt, cabin air filter. But I replaced all of that already.
It has 288k miles on it
Please, do not take it to a dealer.
Doc, congrats on becoming a Famed Member!
Thanks Brother!
That is a lot of mileage. Change the oil every 5k miles. Don't drive like a maniac on the road or you'll burn out the transmission especially since it's lasted that long.
I’d follow the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual.
High mileage doesn’t mean much if the vehicle was serviced regularly & is in great shape mechanically.
