Honda accord 2.0T vs mazda6

Hello, scotty says Honda makes the best engine, is this still true for their new turbocharged engines, especially the 2.0T accord, it seems faster than it looks, it's been getting alot of praises for being zippy, comfy and handling, now comparing this to a Mazda6 non-turbocharged and /or turbocharged mazda6, will the Honda 2.0T still be the more reliable option, or will the mazda6?

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts on this.

I would vote for the Accord.

Well, that depends on what you want, both are excellent and can last. As much as I like the Accord, I would probably go Mazda myself since it's made in Japan and the quality of Japanese-made cars are better than the ones made in the USA or Mexico. The Mazda engines are great if u go with either one and the turbo Mazda 6 is a larger displacement than the accord 2.0 T so it will have less wear. The base engine of the Mazda is excellent and should be perfectly fine.

I have a 2020 2.0T Accord Sport with the 10-Speed. Very fun, zippy little car.

I would recommend it to anyone. I've got nearly 28k miles on mine and no issues so far for the dealer. Put it in Sport mode and it really becomes a fun drive.

I would go Honda over Mazda. Not that Mazda is bad, but that is my preference.

@mod_man I would agree with you. Honda is known for being sporty more than reliable. I can be wrong. Or they can reliable and sporty at the same timePretty much every Honda vehicles handling is so smooth.

The Mazda6 has the more true and tried powertrain (the 2.5L naturally aspirated I4 paired with the 6-speed automatic), so I would go that route between those two vehicles.  Stick to the 2017 model year because starting for 2018 model year to the present they added cylinder deactivation to the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine (and for longevity it’s not the preferred option).  You could also go with the 2.5L turbo I4 (thankfully they never added cylinder deactivation to that engine), but the naturally aspirated engine is better for longevity.  Also, Mazda’s reliability has shot up over the years and I’d say it is right there behind Honda (as Honda’s reliability has gone taken a hit over the years, but so have most brands’ including Toyota.)  Now with the Honda Accord, the jury is out on the longevity of both the 2.0L turbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission as they are relatively new.  If you had to have the Honda Accord, at least go with the manual transmission which they stopped offering for early 2020 model year.  But, overall, both are fairly good cars (along with the Toyota Camry, of course) and you can always do worse looking at other brands, but here I give the edge to the Mazda due to its proven powertrain.

Thanks

I think they are as good as each other. I like the Mazda more because of its style. It looks sleeker and more fashionable compared to the accord. Honda vehicle designs are dull in my opinion.

Yeah that's true 😅
