[Solved] Honda Accord Check Engine Light

Good morning Scotty,

My mom has a 2012 Honda Accord LX-P with error code P0402, indicating something is wrong with the catalytic converter. The Honda dealer where she gets it serviced is stating it has to do with the O2 sensor. That being said, should we stick with Honda OEM parts or could we use Denso, Bosch, NTK, etc.?

Stick to OEM for O2 sensors. A lot of cars do not like aftermarket brands and will continue to throw codes.

Thanks, Mod_Man!

I assume it is a P0420 not P0402?

The usual fix is to replace the catalytic converter.

Unless of course it is a broken sensor, that just replace the sensor.  Might try switching sensors if there are two of the same sensor on the car.  See if the code moves or disappears.  Then you know it is the sensor.
