my honda civic hates to accelerate. but it’s fine for a bit after disconnecting negative wire on battery. code scanner showed no codes but (cat) (evap) (025) were flashing on screen. thought at first it was transmission problems but might be sensors to catalytic converter cause engine likes to heat up when. whenever i put in drive it would not accelerate but rpm likes to go to the moon. but after negative wire to battery is disconnected and re connected drives fine for a bit.

It can't be the cat cuz if the cat is clogged you can't rev it up at all the engine cannot rub. For my experience that's either a transmission failure or more often a computer failure on the Honda often they transmission control module goes bad and does exactly that
