Hi Scotty; I have a Honda Civic 2016 which I bought with 27,000 miles on it. I ran fine until 47,000 miles; when my AC stopped blowing cold air. I took it to the dealer to get it fixed and they wanted to charge over $3,500 to change all AC system. I decline the fix which I found ridiculous expensive and researched online the AC issues with Handa Civics 2016 and up. Anyway; to make story short; I took the dealer multiple times but they always wanted to charge a lot of money. I'm aware of the conservator lifetime warranty since I found online but also the dealer did let me know that this part and the refrigerant were part of an extended warranty. Anyway; they still want to charge for all other AC system parts. so; my question to you is; what should I do? is there any way I can confront them and have them fix my AC at their cost? which I think is fair.
I don’t know if this helps but I got my condenser replaced at Honda for free under the tsb that covers the condenser for 10years and they replaced my refrigerant for free as well (2017 civic lx 2.0) I don’t have any warranty with them and never have
Why would they fix everything at their expense when your car is out of warranty? Does your extended warranty cover all components of the AC system?
Also, you need to find an independent mechanic who specialises in AC work & ask them to diagnose what’s wrong/broken in your car. Get their estimate to fix it correctly too.
The stealership will usually recommend you replace everything, hence the inflated estimate. But depending on what’s actually broken, you may/may not have to replace everything.
Scotty recently made a video on AC systems & what all can go wrong -
Right, got you now. So they replaced things covered by the TSB, but you’re asking if they should repair the AC now, as you feel that should be covered by the TSB, too?
