Hello, I recently replaced my A/C compressor in Honda Civic 2018 Sport 1.5t, CVT, 48000 miles. It was covered under warranty. Last year it was my condenser. My question is, Is there a way I can replace the whole A/S system on my car? I don't want to keep replacing either condenser or compressor every two years when it breaks down again. If I can spend some money on replacing the whole system instead of spending on repairs that will break down again. Or is there anything else I can do to prolong the problem from happening?? Thank you!
It is not typical for a compressor to go bad after such a short period of time, chances are it won't happen again. For a condenser that new to go bad it was probably punctured by flying road debris, which is something that can happen on any vehicle. I really don't think there is anything to be gained by replacing the entire AC system.
I've been looking online, and there are a lot of problems with the Honda A/C system on the 10th generation. They supposedly fixed it in the 2020/2021 versions of the vehicle. I'm just scared that my A/C will keep breaking down. Might as well fix it. But I'll take your word for it. I'll ride this compressor and condenser as long as I can. Hopefully I was just lucky enough for both to malfunction once, and then they work for a long time. Thank you!
And then the question becomes, did the dealer do the proper root cause diagnosis? Why did they replace those 2 items? You shouldn’t have to replace every few years if proper diagnosis was done.
