2010 Honda civic lx 1.8 liter engine automatic transmission. The power steering pump and high pressure hose replacemed after leak. The lines have been bled and it's making a whirl noise. The lines have been bled. The mechanic checked it twice and everything is normal. It's holding fluid and steers fine, just loud whirl noise? I s this normal? see link for video of noise. thanks nick
It sounds like:
A. The replacement pump is junk or
B. The drive belt is not tracking on the pulley correctly or is not correctly tensioned.
Was this job done by an auto mechanic or a plumber? If it was a mechanic, take it back.
mechanic. actually two mechanics. First mechanic replaced high pressure hose because of leak. when picked up car they said it was still making noise because maybe pump is worn. No offer to replace pump, so I'm thinking maybe take it somewhere else cuz I'm not feeling confident about them. take it to second place and they say pump. replaced pump and still making noise. I have them recheck pump and they say nothing wrong. Not sure what to do at this pint. I'm a thousand dollars in. New mechanic?
How can they say "nothing wrong" when it's making a racket like that? Is the mechanic deaf? Is this a dealer?
independent mechanic.
