At the tender are of 47 and for the first time ever, I find myself buying a brand spanking new car, a 2022 Hyundai Sonata N-Line fresh out of the Alabama factory. Now I know Scotty you would never do such a thing, especially at this moment in time but this is where I find myself and I really do like the car. 😂 (Incidentally it's actually cheaper than buying one a year old.) Now I've never owned a car with less than 75,000 miles on it in my life so my question is this. What is the best way to break in a brand new car or maybe this car in particular? Hyundai suggests going easy on it for the first 600 miles. On the other hand, I've had someone tell me to go all in on it as it is a sport sedan and should be driven as such. I just want to do it correctly so I don't create avoidable problems down the road. Thanks for your help!

Your manual states the following:

VEHICLE BREAK-IN
PROCESS
By following a few simple precautions for the first 1,000 km (600 miles) you may add to the performance, economy and life of your vehicle.

Do not race the engine.

While driving, keep your engine speed
(RPM, or revolutions per minute)
between 2,000 RPM and 4,000 RPM.

Do not maintain a single speed for
long periods of time, either fast or
slow. Varying engine speed is needed
to properly break-in the engine.

Avoid hard stops, except in
emergencies, to allow the brakes to
seat properly.

Fuel economy and engine
performance may vary depending
on vehicle break-in process and
be stabilized after 5,000 km. New
engines may consume more oil during
the vehicle break-in period.

Whatever the manufacturer says do, do. That way when it breaks....and it's a Hyundai so it absolutely will....you don't give them a reason to deny your claim.

Look in your owner's manual, if there is a break-in procedure it'll be in there and follow it.

I'll bet most people don't read the owner's manual.
