Hi Scotty, I have a 2017 Lexus Es250 with a 2.5 L Toyota hybrid engine driven 50k miles. I’m curious with the hybrid battery fully charged in a mild weather (Virginia), how long can the car sit before it won’t start? I see people saying 12 month?!

thanks and happy holidays!

Well those are big batteries and they can sit quite some time. Realize they are not like a fully electric vehicle where that's the only thing they have. The hybrid is basically an additional power supply.

Imho, they can sit quite a while if charged adequately to begin with. Just don’t let it drain all the way to the point of no return.

With that said, anecdotal evidence suggests that driving the car more may get you more miles out of your hybrid battery before it needs replacing.
