Having mechanic like me put a scan tool on it analyze the data. Also you can put on a vacuum gauge that'll show you what the boost is you can get a vacuum gauge that shows turbo boost for like $30 on Amazon. Of course if it's physically coming apart it makes horrible noises and rattles and when it stops working correctly say the wastegates broken you won't get any boost at all and so it won't accelerate right. And if the seals go bad internally on the turbocharger you will burn a lot of oil
