I recently had to remove a disc rotor from my car for a wheel bearing replacement job. Midway through the work I had to stop. It rained, and the disc got wet, and now it looks very rusty.
What is the best way to remove the rust from the disc? I’m mainly just concerned with the surfaces where the pads contact the disc. (Links to pics below.)

If it's just surface rust, it will come off the next time you hit your brakes. Brake rotors rust overnight in very humid conditions, it's nothing to lose sleep over.

Don't leave rotors out in the weather. If "recently" means the rotor only accumulated some light surface rust just wipe them down with a microfiber cloth and brake cleaner. This site might help https://www.buybrakes.com/help/how-to-clean-brake-rotors/
they're absolutely fine. install and go. It'll be gone in a fraction of a second. And then it'll be back again the next time it rains.
I find the "premium" level of Power Stop brake pads & rotors have the least dust & rusting. They are expensive but wirth it.
