Scotty, i appreciate your videos. I saw the one where you "reviewed" the little Ram Promaster City, made in turkey, and it got me worried. I think in another video you mentioned all Ram vans are junk.
I've got bigger Ram Promaster, the size of a large Sprinter. It's an RV, so i don't want it breaking down on the road. What can i do to prolong it's life? What are it's weak points?
Thanks!

What are it's weak points?
it's too new. There isn't much data available.
In past models the transmission was the weak spot.
aren't really any mechanical issues yet. But in a video, Scotty said they were junk.
Dodge is owned by Stellantis, Scotty says they're the 3 Stooges of auto manufacturing. Fiat went under, after Chrysler went under, Chrysler has gone under at least two other times because they make crud cars and trucks. Add Peugeot into the mix, and they're just all around crap vehicles.
Replace your transmission fluid regularly, and I mean regularly. Like every 30k miles.
Thanks, that's the most helpful answer!
Saying it's just generically bad isn't helpful at all, but suggesting an extraordinary oci is!
Thanks again.

Don't drive it. How long do you have it?

So i searched, and there aren't really any mechanical issues yet. But in a video, Scotty said they were junk. What's up with that?
Scotty frequently points out that Chrysler quality is poor and their vehicles for the most part are cheaply made and prone to electrical and mechanical problems. (That doesn't mean they all will, just that a large percentage will experience problems.)
It may be that like GM, Chrysler's heavy-duty trucks are built better than their cheaper models. I doubt that many people here have direct experience with the large RAM Promaster. I may have seen one or two on the road but wouldn't swear to it.
I see them on the road in my area pretty often
There was somebody on the forum a few weeks back complaining that they gave him a hard time with programming his key or something
@gew do you mean that one?

Yup 👍
You did not state the model year or current mileage.
If you do an internet search for "RAM Promaster problems" you'll find a lot of information on problem areas. (They'll be more specific to yours if you include the model year.)

What are it's weak points?
the weak point:
notorious junk 3.6L pentastar engine
junk ZF transmission.
junk Fiat electronics.
A sure recipe for disappointment.

It's a 2020 Ram Promaster (NOT the tiny City) with about 7k miles on it. It's had 3 oil changes. I'm well aware of rv issues; had them since 2004, when the quality was similar to covid quality because every idiot was refi-ing their home to get one, just to foreclose in 3 years.
None of the posts above cover this van. They cover the tiny ram Promaster "City" version but not the full size 3500 van with the v6.
Thanks!
