I have a Toyota Corolla 2005 CE with a vvt-i 16 valve engine that has a valve cover gasket that's basically molted on. I'm trying to replace my valve cover gasket because my spark plugs were oily. How can I go about taking it off carefully? I tried prying it with a flathead screwdriver little by little but it just wasn't coming off. Is there something I can spray on it to make it loosen up some?
My bad I meant the valve cover.
Title fixed.
Make sure you get all the fasteners out, unplug wires , hoses etc.
Then whack it with a soft face mallet. Or a hammer and block of wood if you don't have one.
Thanks. I was just afraid of cracking the valve cover. Glad you understood what I meant lol. I can't edit the post for some reason.
Don't beat on it like you're driving a stake. Just firmly tap it on a really meaty part (probably the flange close to the mating surface)
Would you please show or explain where that meaty part is? Not sure where you're talking about.
