I have a 2006 toyota highlander with 124k miles and i'm not exactly sure when the timing belt was last changed, is there any way to tell its wear visually? I know that once it starts to squeak it means it's going bad but are there any other indicators?

If there is no indication that it has ever been replaced I would do so as a precaution.

If you got the V6 and you don't know if it has been replaced or it, just change it. Your engine is interference and you don't want to ruin it.

If you see any cracking or chipping you know if should be replaced. Make sure you check every single inch of belt even the teeth.

It is supposed to be replaced every 90,000 miles.
