I'm a hybrid fan (theory).  However, I don't know of a good one made today and don't think the engineering research is going into them as electrics only (likely future).  Hence, in my opinion a dead end, not to mention repair expenses.  Too bad as it has potential to be good.  Might be wrong but I think this is the common opinion.

I know alot of Uber drivers a few years ago opted for prius cars in dense areas of NY & SF. The regen braking helps alot, and you don't lose as much time(money) refueling. Given the current economic climate I assume you are referencing giglife in the sense of meal/grocery delivery rather than chauffeuring. These delivery companies don't carry the same kind of car reqs like being 2016+ model year and at least 5 seats. For that reason you are better off getting an older reliable gas powered car with low maintenance costs. Any amateur mechanics and DIYers can work on older corollas and civics, they are designed with that in mind. Newer hybrids/EVs/H2s on the other hand require very specified training around energy isolation and safety, usually monopolized by dealer service hubs. Those kind of repairs and maintenance will chew up your margins.

I would wait till the technology has matured a few more years, to be honest. There are still reports of Hyundai electric vehicles catching on fire.

I wouldn’t want to be a guinea pig for the manufacturers. If you need a hybrid, get a Toyota hybrid. They make the best hybrid vehicles.

You're wrong about Toyota Hybrids being the best. They use Panasonic batteries, just like the Tesla, and they have a horrible reliability history that also includes vehicles spontaneously catching fire.

also im pretty sure it's a Toyota Mirai. If you live in southern california, then sure get that but in other places there aren't many places to fuel. Hybrids are more expensive over time then an electric car but electric car doesn't have the benifit of a gasoline motor.

IMHO, the best hybrid car you can get is the Toyota Prius and other Toyota hybrids comparable in gas mileage to the Prius.  (There are some hybrids which don't make sense, because the gas mileage is so low.). The Prius has the aerodynamics going for it.

With that said, what others are saying may be true.  If you can find a cheap "regular" Toyota or Honda that gets high MPG, it might be cheaper to get than a hybrid.

The Mirai (Toyota) or Clarity (Honda) is way expensive if you buy new.  But there are deals to be had if you can get one used.  The only problem is you have to live near filling stations, so if you live near a filling station, it is a good deal.  Run the calculations of how much hydrogen costs vs a gasoline car.
