Hey, I have a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE my check engine light, traction control light, ⚠️ light, and check Hybrid system came on with codes P3000, P0AC0, P0A80, P0B47 what's the cause and how do I fix. Can I fix this myself by wearing rubber gloves?
Clarification: Mileage?
Over 103,000 miles right now
Rubber gloves? Is this a battery replacement or a prostate exam?
@mmj - Great stuff! Thanks!
Lol I found a service center who can swap it out for $2149
Is that for a new battery or a rebuilt one? (The rebuilt batteries only last a year or two.)
there's a problem with the high voltage hybrid battery. Better leave it to the professionals if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
Thanks
I think I'll give it a shot, is this the same as working on 1800 amp generators?
I know nothing about it, and clearly, neither do you.
Make sure you've named a life insurance benefactor. :beg:
Most likely, the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. Usually when all those crazy lights show up at the same time, alongside the P0A80 code, it is time for the hybrid battery to be replaced.
The three other codes are most likely related to this code, and changing the hybrid battery may solve all the codes. There is a slight chance that all the codes a separate problems.
If indeed it is just the hybrid battery and nothing else, I recommend Green Bean battery. They come to your house and swap out your battery for a refurbished and rebalanced battery pack. But there may be another option.
How many miles do you have on the car? If it is less than 150,000 miles, and you are within the warranty window of 10 years, you may be able to get a hybrid battery for free*** at the dealer. But it had to meet certain mileage requirements and year requirements. (Please double check the figures in your owners manual, I am just going by memory on 10 years / 150,000 miles.)
This is actually one of the few times I recommend going to the dealer… to see if it is covered under warranty, assuming your car fits the requirements for warranty.
If you want to take it a step further, maybe bite the bullet and get an oil change at the dealer, so they actually take your car in, instead of looking the warranty information up on the computer.
If it is not covered under warranty, they will surely try to diagnose and sell you a super expensive hybrid battery. You can then grill them to see if it is indeed just the hybrid battery or if there are other issues from the other codes. But if it is just the hybrid battery, you can just decline and take it to Green Bean.
I brought this car used from the stealership with no warranty so I bought a warranty from a third party company but it ended in 2020, there is over 103,000 miles on it right now.
It might be worth taking it in to the dealer, or calling the dealer. The hybrid battery warranty is different than the regular warranty or the warranty you bought.
You might just make the cutoff for based in years. I am pretty sure you are under the cutoff for mileage. But it doesn’t hurt to call or go ask the dealer to verify the hybrid battery warranty.
They told me the hybrid battery warranty cutoff is 100,000 miles
Damn.
Isn't owning a hybrid fun?
