Hyundai Genesis Sedan 2010

Hey Scotty,

I bought a 2010 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 with 112,000 miles in June and it now has 121,000 miles. No issues at all, but are there any preventative maintenance items I should do? I have changed the transmission fluid, spark plugs, and synthetic oil changes. It runs very smoothly and has NO issues.

The Kia/Hyundai brand is really crappy and dangerous. If the millions and millions of recalls, cars catching fire or burning people's houses down, or all the failing engines and transmissions weren't bad enough, then the company attitude towards customers is. Everyone should avoid this brand. I tell everybody I know to avoid it.

GM isn't doing so great either.

If you have a problem with the truth, then I don't know what you're doing following Scotty. You aren't going to be very popular calling people "narrow minded" for their opinions here. Just a warning. 😉

Personally, I would run that Hyundai Genesis into the ground, not maintain the thing, then drive it till the motor locks up or blows up, as they are not good cars at that mileage. That said, you never know how long it's gonna last, so just continue to do all the usual 5000-mile oil changes, transmissions fluid change every 30-40k miles (because they had relatively weak automatic transmissions), etc. and see how much longer it will last. If you do get to the point of electric failures, some engine problems like cams wearing out, or worn piston rings, don't even bother fixing that kind of thing because the cost to repair that kind of stuff will be more than what the car is worth?

Read the owner's manual on what needs to be replaced at what time. I hope you didn't pay much for this because it is a Hyundai product.

I didn’t pay much for it.
Note: To classify an entire brand as bad/negative is a huge disservice. Saying all GM products are bad would ignore the happy customers with Buick 3800 engines or LS-based engines,. Or saying Chrysler products are awful, despite the 4.0 Powertech I6 or 318/360 Magnum motors. It’s a narrow minded and harmful mindset in the automotive culture
