the right rear wheel is getting very hot

I have a 2003 ford explorer and the right rear wheel is getting hot very hot and its just the right rear wheel the others are fine and it has new brake calipers, new brakes, new rotors, and new brake hose and it is still getting hot.

My first thought would be the possibility of a bad/worn wheel bearing.  Are you getting any noise or vibration from that wheel?


@average-car-guy Good point, It may be possible to test it by driving and listening for groaning around corners. It will only groan going one direction, typically left for a right side issue. I would be careful not to drive much at all until I was sure the caliper isn't dragging, or you could ruin your new pads and possibly rotors very quickly.

Just to make sure, I would jack up the rear tires and double check to make sure the caliper is not actually seized up, and the wheel is spinning free.

A couple of questions, how did you know it was getting hot?

Who did the brake job for you, yourself, dealership, local mechanic etc?
