Paid £1700 for a Toyota Celica T Sport in the UK (good price) 111,000 miles spent other money about £1000 getting it looking clean, engine light came on, then I had it checked out and the valve clearance is wayy off ment to be 0.035 /25 mm or something mine are all around 0.012 /13 toyota want £800 for the job should I get it done or will the car still run forever?
How do you know the valve clearance is off? 7th gen Celicas do have some reliability issues but generally speaking the Yamaha 2ZZ is a decent motor. It was used in the Lotus Elise so Yamaha seems to have worked harder on making that engine pass a more rigorous quality control check.
Hi, sorry for the slow reply. I had a mechanic check it out as I've heard they loose the clearance over the years, also the codes I have are p1346 and p1349 but the timing chaing is good and so is vvt solenoid as I've put a new one in and also cleaned the oil screens
