I have a metro 1999 one liter engine. How difficult is it to replace the driver's side cv joint, boot? Can I easily pull the shaft out of the transmission. And then easily put into the transmission the new cv joint drive shaft?
Can I easily take out of the transmission the cv joint drive shaft? And can I easily put the new cv joint drive shaft back into the transmission. Driver's side
Does the drive shaft have a keeper or snap ring to keep the drive shaft in the transmission??
I'm not sure about your specific car. I am not a mechanic, just a DIYer that tries to do things that seem doable for my skill set.
I've done one CV Axle before. I got lucky in that it wasn't too hard to remove from the hub and from the transmission. And it wasn't too hard to install either.
With that said, I must caution, while my experience wasn't too bad, I have heard of some trouble removing it from one end or the other. Just make sure you have the right tools for the job. Also, read the manual or view some videos for your specific car. Some cars require a transmission oil change after changing the axle.
