I got ghosted by Ford

Hey Scotty, my fiance and I recently bought a 2015 Ford fiesta SE with DPS6 transmission from my parents (they bought it new) and it goes into limp mode VERY often. It did it 5 times today, leaving us stuck on both the highway and the backroads to work. It has had this issue since it was bought new, its had 2 or 3 TCM replacements and a reflash, and been back to the dealership about 8 times for the same problem. They can never recreate the issue and always tell us that whenever we bring it to them. I tried to get ford to buy it back and they refused, now they don't return my calls. This car is known to have issues and they refuse to do anything about it. I really need some help or advice. They have the worst customer service I've ever experienced and i don't know what to do. Thank you for everything you do!

Sounds like the Ford I know. Unfortunately you're kinda stuck with what you have unless you unload the car. You're out of the Lemon Law period and the timeframe for buybacks under the class action suit has passed.

I hate to tell you, but my advice is get rid of it and move on. And I rarely say that, but it is your best option in this case.

The problem is those transmissions cannot be fixed. They were bad when they were designed and both Ford engineering and Ford management knew it. The company knowingly and deliberately put a fundamentally flawed product on the market and sold you and many others a bad car that simply is not possible to make right. There was a buyback due to a class action lawsuit but that has now expired.

Is a lawsuit the only option?

A lawsuit is 💯 not the way to go.i get the frustration but the buyback period is already expired. By the time you win the case you would have already put in more time and money than the car is worth. Rid yourself of it and get another is the best thing to do. It sucks, but that is thee best option. Every dealership got hella lawyers compared to you. If you do go that route don't expect it to be an easy fight...

You'd have to talk to a lawyer, but since this has already been through a class-action lawsuit that was settled I don't think any further legal action is possible. Probably the only realistic option is to get rid of the car for whatever you can get for it and buy something else. I know it stinks, Ford just plain screwed people over, there's really no other way to put it.

@BruceREE is right. I was within the first six months of ownership when I sued Ford and it took me a full year of litigation. I had my lawyer and two paralegals. Ford had six lawyers on my case. They didn't settle with me until the very last minute, literally, on the day my case was to be presented. In my case, I was protected under the Lemon Law for my state and had a $50k truck on the line. Not saying anything negative about your car, but for the time, energy, and everything else involved in filing a suit that, honestly, probably goes nowhere, I would sell the car and move on.
