Scotty, I have always been good with machines and am pretty mechanically inclined. I have no formal mechanical education but I do work at a Honda plant working with robots and equipment. I enjoy cars and working on them and want to start making it a side business in my neighborhood. I think I’ll start out with just maintenance items such as fluid changes, brakes and rotors, spark plugs etc. any advice or suggestions? Thanks!
Fixing cars in your neighborhood would be a fine start,
But why not aim higher for the "big bucks"?
Pursue the electronics side of it. Become a diagnostician instead of a "wrench turner".
The "wrench turners" will hire you to come to their shops with your digital oscilloscope when they run out of parts to change.
Learn to master diagnosing electrical components with an oscilloscope. Became a master at using a bidirectional scanner. Learn all you can about automotive electronics, modules, and circuits.
These skills will allow you to work on both internal combustion cars and electric cars.
You can take courses online.
Watch some of this guy's videos and see if that side of auto mechanics interests you.

Don't underestimate need to know how to run a small business. It's not rocket science, but you can easily make expensive mistakes with a business, just like when you're fixing cars. (Especially if/when you do work for buddies or neighbors or relatives - Square can be your friend)
