Okay Quick question I have been doing this research for last 30 mins
How do you identify the gender and age of your car.
I got two
My main car: Civic type r 2020
Weekend Toy: Fiat Spyder 123 Abrath
How do I identify their gender?
I know its a dumb question but I saw many car enthusiasts name their car after buying it and I never did that so I an kinda sad about it?
Today is April 12th.. your question is too late for April fools’..
Every car has their own personality...Only you can figure out what your rides are.
I know it was a dum question to ask and I knew i will get 50% funny and 50% serious reply but Idid not knew it was gonna spark interest in so many people XD
But still I shall call my civic type r FireHawk and I got decal on both door side of flaming bird I still don't how to upload picture on this website or I would have showed u guys but thanks you guys for taking intrest it is god to hear other people opinion on how they feel and take care of their ride
Upload it to a host like imgur or postimages & then paste the link here.
Cars are machines they have no gender. People falsely put gender upon them
If you go back and look at many of the car and motorcycle magazines of the past, cars and bikes have been named for a long time. Movies too, for example; you've got the "Eleanor" Mustang from gone in 60 seconds, "Christine" from the Steven King movie, just to name a few. So in current days; people/Enthusiasts that modify their cars with a certain theme or idea usually pick a name to fit that theme; they attend car shows, cruise-ins etc....So the cars get a name, so there's history behind it. Some people get it, and some don't. Do what makes ya happy.
Well said. 🙂
In my book, all cars are like boats: they are female.
That's why I always refer to my cars that way. "I'm gonna go wash her, get her cleaned up." "She sure is beautiful."
I'm not old but have a very old school mindset where anything female is delicate and to be taken care of. Not being sexist, just giving my opinion and everyone is free to disagree.
As for names, sometimes I name my cars, but most of the time not. My Accord has no name, but I still refer to it as "her" when referencing it.
Scotty is right, of course. The obvious fact is cars are gender neutral. But I think those of us that bond more with our cars, the enthusiasts amongst us, name our cars because we see them as more than just a machine.
My Mom has a green Mustang she calls Margarita and my Dad has a blue RAV4 they call Hurricane. Both after the alcoholic drinks. I'm Irish. It shows. What can I say? Lol.
I'm with Scotty on this one.
It's a MACHINE!
Did you name your oven? Or the refridgerator?
I edited your post.
Don't be disrespectful towards other forum members. That is Rule #1 here. I won't remind you again.
Thank you.
I only name my pets. Your car is 1 yr old.
my friends just called it the mountainmobile
Do they have an Audi or an Indy?

Material items do not have a gender (eventhough some languages out there use gender in their grammar).
It's honestly up to you if your car is male, female, or non-binary. Some people call their hot rod a "she", some people call it a "he", etc.
Your Civic is a rebel boy, so his name is Billy.
Your Fiat is an elegant free spirit, so her name is Annabelle.
Welcome back, Udyr. Long time no see 🙂
Hi MMJ!
It's been a while. Have been off for some time due to commitments and whatnot. I see an attempt was made to keep the videos upload idea alive, but then it died. I'll see what I can do when I get the chance.
I refer to reliable old cars as 'her' and I refer to fast muscular cars or trucks as 'he'. But, lets be real, cars are metal machines. They don't have a mind of their own.
I'm only 16, but If I would name a car gender, it would be 'her'. It sounds weird now to label 'he' to a car. Especially if I like the car, it would be a 'her'.
My wife is from France and says, there, cars are feminine. So if named, a female name.
I'm always interested to hear what people in other countries think of things. On this, I definitely agree.
Does she call it l'auto or la voiture?
@mountainmanjoe
You know French I see eh?
Je connais aussi un peu de français, pas bon dans ce domaine, mais assez décent pour écrire ceci
I would love to hear someone say to a Dacia Sandero "she's a beauty"
She calls them cars. She has been in this country a long time though she still gets hung up on an occasional English word or expression.
My 95 E350 is named Annie, therefore it must be female. The last one was named Golden Hooves and I never really did know what it was. But my 68 Jeep was Roxane and she was something. Wendel was my 53 VW bug and he was a cutie.
Got to at least name your vehicles, male or female. How else can you talk to them while driving? It would be like not naming your children and just saying, hey kid...
Well said. 🙂
A car if named would be feminine. I've always heard it that way especially if there is a deep emotional connection. But the metal box we call cars don't have gender realistically so I assume this is a hypothetically cultural question?
Usually it depends in what language you name it. As Scotty said, no gender in english. In some languages that varies from brand to brand and from model to model.
It looks like your question had impressed Scotty he discussed it with a fan
