For the sake of argument, assume EVERY carmaker had the same or better quality and longevity of Toyota and Honda. The deciding factor would essentially be price and aesthetics.
What car would you get? Would it still be Honda or Toyota? Or would you jump to other brands that might look better?
A used Volvo if I want something premium
A Nissan Maxima for power
You being serious?
@bclaud8977
Yes... ?
A Maxima for power, I thought you were kidding, I mean it is not slow but a full sized sedan with a v6 doesn't sound extremely powerful to me, but maybe that is just me.
Its fast enough, my father had a 94 and it was an awesome car.
The Maxima V6 provides energetic responsive power.
yeah it isn't the sportiest thing in the world, but when you put your foot on the throttle, it flies.
Of course, the model year I'm refering to was 25% lighter than the brand new one.
Since we are playing hypothetical, let’s also assume every vehicle in that automaker’s lineup is ultra reliable and exceptional build quality (inside and outside). Then my choice would be determined by price first, then aesthetics second. Of course, I’d still wait a few years and buy used and have kinks worked out. So for my next daily driver instead of a Lexus GS350 I would get a Cadillac CT6 (or CTS Vsport). And then to replace my current sports car eventually I would probably get a Corvette C8 Z06 instead of a Lexus RCF/LC500. Also, to replace my current off-road SUV/“truck” I would get a Ford Bronco instead of a Toyota 4Runner.

Assuming money wasn't an issue of course.
Dodge Challenger Demon. With the Demon crate. And a Porsche 911 GT3-RS on the side.
Mod Man you must be rich how can you afford that? {black}:surprised:
Quality might be good but I guess in these types of questions you could happily own a $188k Porsche in lalaland. Mean while fellow earth residents: {black}:crying:
Hahahaha. Well I am NOT a rich man I can assure you. I kinda took this as one of those, "Money no object" questions like @mountainmanjoe was saying in his answer. If we are going by what would we get with our own money assuming the quality was there, I would never purchase two cars priced like that.........I'd settle for just the Porsche. {black}
First priority is function. If a car doesn't serve the purpose then it's useless.
Then comes durability and reliability.
Aesthetics is somewhere way down the list.
Price and esthetics... and comfort and usability and performance ... are always relevant factors in buying a car. Quality/durability/reliability are obviously more important for a person who wants to keep a car for a long time (and including most of the people who would watch Scotty Kilmer’s channel). But those are not especially important factors for someone who isn’t going to keep a car long term, whether because they are leasing, or have a changing family, or a fickle job, or whatever.
I would get a V10 BMW M5!
I’d probably get the Infiniti G35. Something about that design seems timeless to me. Heck the later generations seem to just modify off of this design.
Same thing with the Porsche 911 and its later generations. I’d get a newer generation of those for some fun.
Range Rover Sport. I still believe third generation 4Runners are the best looking SUVs on road today. But those RRSs are something to marvel. They’re slick, and their high performance make them a lot of fun to drive.
I really like how Range Rover hardly Changes the design, like the 4Runner.
If {Cadillac, Jaguar} improved their quality to the level of {Honda, Toyota} there would be large increase in the number of {Cadillac, Jaguar} vehicles on the road. Great styling & luxurious interiors.
That F type is one nice looking car.
Today, if BMWs quality and reliability matched that of, … say, Toyota’s - not Honda’s, … my daily driver would be a current M2 Competition, … manual! It’s a car that you can flog, … and it’s a car that you can get stuck in a traffic for hours and still enjoy it. That is, if it does not break on you in the process.
Most likely the very last BMW with a manual transmission!
F.S.
Those MT’s are getting harder and harder to find!
I’d probably still have my 2019 Camry SE because of the gas mileage and the car looks good enough for me interior and exterior wise
If reliability wasn't an issue?
2004 Mazda RX-8 for a sports/track car.
2004 Mercury Grand Marquis GS for a daily driver
Diesel Ford Excursion for people moving and stuff hauling.
For a daily driver, I would get a Cadillac Escalade and a Chevy Avalanche of course.
For hauling, I would get a Chevy 2500 high country with the diesel and a Ram 3500 Laramie longhorn diesel dually.
For speed, I would get none other than the Dodge Demon.
Chrysler 300 would be the car
A Pontiac Aztek for the styling, a Hummer H2 for fuel mileage and a Smart for two for towing. The things I have say to live up to my username.
I’d roll in an Aztec. Best looking car ever created.
Aztek are nice, but their not beautiful as a AMC Pacer
{black}
@super-dummy: which would you rather roll in between the two?
the Aztec is HIDEOUS
You guys should check out the Fiat Multipla
ok the Multipla wins. It looks like some kind of mutated amphibean
That Fiat wins. Looks almost like the Homer Simpson car.
The Dodge Aries K car with unlimited supply of duct tape would be ride of choice
The Chrysler K platform. Nice choice.
