Scotty, before I discovered your channel I bought a 2015 Ford Transit with the 3.5 Ecoboost engine. I need it to last as long as possible. Which shift method do you recommend to preserve its life?
Use factory automatic shift points at low RPMs but gauge constantly shows 5-10psi of boost
OR
Manually shift it at higher RPMs to keep it out of boost
just drive the van, man
you bought it, reving the engine up isn't any better for it than keeping it out of boost
those aren't horrible vans, they just aren't the best.
Just drive it in automatic and maintain it as recommended.
Modern cars are made to be most efficient and the computer is designed to work best in regular auto mode, just keep it like that. I would sell it before 100.000 miles to avoid major problems with the powertrain but that's just me.
