2007 toyota tundra 5.7
My dad is stuck in Mississippi! He got an oil change and the mechanic forgot to put the cap back on. He drove it from Cali to Tennessee and now he's stuck in Mississippi. The Engine is still running for now but had noticed it too late. He checked the oil and filled it back up to the correct line. It's too late in the day for him to buy a new cap and I'm sure there's damage to the engine. That's why I need help if there's any recommended shops or if there's anyone in the area who can help. It's probably going to need a rebuild or engine swap. He's in the Olive Branch area.
Well a correct engine swap with an actual mechanic who charges 100 something dollars an hour cost thousands of dollars. But if he's willing to gamble have him call all the local junk yards and see if there are any that have an engine that fits that either install it there or no low cost mechanic installers of engines
He's currently at local shop, they're replacing the drive shaft because it was shot. I believe it cause he was hauling a large trailer loaded with over 4000lbs of rice. He sent me pictures but I don't know how to post them. Thanks Scotty I'll let him know.
I would go with a replacement motor. When it comes to engine rebuilds/replacements, there are no cheap ones.
I would also be having a discussion with the mechanic on helping to pay for it since his negligence caused the issue in the first place.
