I have a 2001 Mazda B2300 with fuel injected 16 valve double overhead cam engine. It has 82000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago I had big stream of white smoke at a cold startup. It ran kinda rough and seemed to misfire a little bit. However, after it warmed up, about 5 minutes later, the smoke went away and the truck ran like it always does which is great. I drove it for a week without incident. Then on Friday, 1 week later it did it again. I have no codes or check engine light. The engine does not overheat and there is no creaminess under the oil filler or on the dipstick. Today I got in and she started eagerly on the first second and again everything is just fine. The oil and coolant level have not changed. The smoke kinda smelled like gas to me. I looked for stuff on Scotty and youtube and I couldn't find a scenario like mine.
You should do a leak test on the cooling system to see if you have a head gasket on the way out. If the smoke at start up is translucent white and disappears after a couple minutes, it's just condensation.
