I am looking at buying a 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design from Carmax. It has 51,121 miles and three owners already. I took it for a test drive and liked it, but I was wondering if there was something wrong with the car if 3 people already decided to sell it. Is this a good car to purchase? I was hoping to find a car that would last at least a few years without too much issue.
Modern Volvos are owned by Chinese company so the quality aren't what it used to be. They can turn to a money pit when they get older so I wouldn't recommend any modern Volvo unless if it's older ones before 2015 they're much better made.
What is the asking price? Why not buy a Lexus if you want luxury suv? Much better quality. Here's a link to XC60 issues:

If it was originally a leased or corporate fleet vehicle, a 2nd owner wouldn't necessarily ring any alarm bells for me. But three? Yeah, I'd want to investigate a little further.
I'd suggest spending the $30 or $40 to get a complete vehicle history before going any further. Anything you can find out about service history would be very helpful. Those T6's are both turbo and supercharged, so regular oil changes would be something I'd want to make sure were taken care of even before I had a pre-purchase inspection done.
As for how reliable they are - the rule of thumb seems to be that for a European luxury brand, they aren't too bad. Many of them are built in China, and they can have their issues. Nowhere near as reliable as a Lexus, but leaps and bounds better than a Range Rover. I would imagine maintenance costs will increase significantly as the car ages and racks up the miles, though.
They can be decent cars but never be the fourth owner of a car. That's that new. Obviously it's a problems rack flooded, stolen something
