Hello there scotty, I'm a big fan of yours.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe that shows an ABS light on the dashboard after I've changed a damaged CV axel. After I did a computer scan, my mechanic said it's my "ABS Sensor" so I've changed it but the problem is still there. Because of it I can't turn on my Cruise control. What should I do to fix this issue? Thank You.
My guess would be it is a non ABS CV Axle.
ABS CV Axles have a special pattern / ring / design (I don’t know the technical name) on the area right where the ABS sensor would do its sensing. Without this special thing, the ABS system would be driving blind, so to speak.
The problem could be other things too, but this is easy to rule out with a simple inspection.
"tone ring" or "reluctor ring"
Thanks for the correct jargon!
Well start with a better mechanic. You change the axle and then it had the problem. So somehow the ABS sensor or the wiring has been damaged. If replacing the sensor didn't fix it and he bought an OEM sensor then it's got a wiring problem. The wiring was damaged or if you got the incorrect CV axle it may not have the sensor on the axle so it can't be picked up because the tone ring or whatever they use. Sometimes they use magnets, isn't there and the sensor can't pick it up
Thank you both for the reply.
Say it was my new CV axel that maybe doesn't support ABS feature, Is it possible to get the ABS cog it self from my old CV axel and put it in the new one? (My mechanic said that could be the issue). Or is it a wiring problem or a burned fuse or something?
Should I do another computer scan with a different mechanic that has better equipment?
I'm sorry fellas I'm desperate here, this car cost me so much money to maintain, I just want my cruise control to work again, as its now not functioning anymore since this issue appeared, and I really need it on long trips.
If it's not an inconvenience, I would really appreciate it If you can provide me with more suggestions.
Thank you.
