Hi Scotty,
So I live in California, and was wondering, some gas stations sell Diesel #2 cheaper than others and I know there is one grade of Diesel fuel. So should I worry about finding the cheapest Diesel fuel to put into my 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 Hd w/ 210,000 miles on it? Is there a difference in fuel between the different stations? Or is the cheapest fuel I can find okay?
Thank you.
Jaxson
Diesel 1 is basically best for cold weather and will be a bit more expensive than Diesel 2.
Diesel 2 is the most common diesel fuel you will find in the States. You can feel free to use whichever your cheapest option is as your motor can burn either and unless you are in a super cold environment, looking for Diesel 1 is a waste of time and money.
Thank you much ModMan
You're very welcome.
Diesel fuel from petroleum is diesel fuel. It's pretty much sold like gasoline, the seller may play with additive packages for their marketing tactics, like Shell does with V-Power, BP has Envigorate, etc. but the base fuel is the same. The Feds and California have regulated petroleum based fuels almost to death, to where they won't allow something to be sold that can damage your vehicle or destroy the environment. I wouldn't worry about putting the cheapest gas in your truck, especially in California. Run fuel system cleaner meant for diesels through every once in a while and you should be good. Diesel #1 has more kerosene than diesel #2. That's about the only real difference. The kerosene helps lower the combustion flash point of the fuel.
Thank You much Mr Shepherd.
