Hello i have heard of Honda but i dont know their info
Clarification: You will need to give more details: 1.) are you looking to buy used or new? If used, how far back? 2.) are you looking for sedan, coupe, van, CUV/SUV, or car-based “pickup”? 3.) Which models are you interested in? 4.) how long do you need it to last you (include mileage as well)?
Well it depends on what Honda vehicles were talking about here. If we're talking about smaller Honda vehicles, their reliability is decent. For bigger Honda vehicles, their overall reliability is ok. The reliability for Honda overall is between ok and decent. Honda is not as reliable as Toyota but they're more reliable than the rest of the Japanese competition.
A little side note is that @mod_man does own a 2021 Honda Ridgeline and a 2020 Honda Accord with 2.0T engine. Also, my dad owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey.
Honda's reliability goes back and forth. The reason behind it (IMO) is that they do not modernize. They have modernized to a point, but not fully-that also includes the fact that you still have to manually adjust the valves. Their cars with manual transmissions are a different story.
How is “not modernizing” related to reliability?
@kesterpaul62, this was helpful to hear. I'm looking for an old car, and I'll probably look for a Toyota because of the Honda engine issues.
@etre2244 not all Hondas are bad. Depends on model, year, engine, transmission, etc. but I wouldn’t write them completely off.
@daywalker, got it. I will keep them in mind. Thank you.
It’s all about probability and reputation.
Both Honda and Toyota have the best reputation in terms of reliability and longevity, with an edge towards Toyota. Odds are you will get a better quality car with either of these two brands, than almost any other car brand out there.
Neither Toyota or Honda are perfect, but they give you a better probability of a good car, IMHO.
If you have any specific Honda models you are looking at, post it in the forum, and we can help see if it is a good model year or a not so great one.
