The encoder motor on my transfer case went bad, can't use the 4x4 functions. I don't use 4x4 unless it's snowy out. Will driving it in 2-high for a while damage anything?
this is on a 2005 chevy avalanche

I would at least pull the AWD fuse to disable the system.
