Is my clutch going out?

Hey everyone I have a Miata with almost 60k miles with a manual tranny and ONLY in first gear and reverse is it sometimes difficult, however its becoming more common, to put in gear. I mean I am not the strongest person on earth but definitely not the weakest and I really have to force it all the way in when my left foot is all the way down on the clutch. For the rest of the gears it shifts perfectly fine. Is this my clutch going out?

It sounds like the first, reverse synchros are shot.  Do you rest your arm on the shift lever when you drive?

I don't rest it on top of the shifter i usually hold the sphere but I don't apply pressure unless i want to upshift or downshift. I do this so in case of an emergency I can slow down or accelerate. But lets say the first and reverse synchros are shot how much would that cost me and would it get to the point where it won't let me go into first or reverse.

If it is the synchros, you'll need to get the transmission rebuilt with new seals and synchros.  Eventually, you won't be able to get it into gear at all.

If the clutch doesn't slip or make noise, I would try changing the transmission fluid. That can make quite a difference in how well it shifts. At that mileage it's probably due.
