[Solved] Is there a risk in using cheap generic cabin filters instead of OEM?

I just replaced my cabin filter in my 2016 Tesla Model S. I noticed that airflow is much louder, especially at high fan speeds and my impression is that the airflow is reduced compared to the previous filter. The new filter is a $15 "A Premium" activated carbon filter that I bought from Amazon. I don't know the brand of the previous filter and unfortunately I didn't ask the mechanic to keep it.

It seems that the replacement filter has higher resistance than the previous one. Could this put a strain on the fan?

Could insertion in the wrong direction cause an increase in resistance?

In general, is it safe to go with 3rd-party replacements for cabin filters or should one stick with the far more expensive OEM ones?

Thanks!

Well, if noise and air flow was a problem I'd go back to OEM. They don't really hurt anything though. It'll just change flow rates and probably won't filter as well and smell more
