Hey Scotty,

I love the show. I was wondering if you have ever seen a difference in quality or longevity between Toyotas built in the USA or Canada vs Japan? Keep up the great work.

Japan is the best it gets. Also I'd put made in Canada over made in USA, but that's just poutine pride really.

Japan no question. American workers are terrible at quality control and it shows in the American brand offerings. Japanese workers are more skilled, more efficient, and take FAR more pride in what they do. Like it or not, those are just the facts.

Even toyotas made in the us? That bad?

Toyotas will be better built than the American stuff because they still have to build to the guidelines and requirements that Toyota sets. But if you take a Toyota from Japan and put it up against one from America, I have no doubt the one from Japan will be better built. Just as German cars built in Germany are much better to ones built in other countries. Both of those nations are absolutely fanatical about quality and engineering. It just gets watered down when you open a factory in another country. For some time Honda did not open their first factory in the US because they had questions about whether or not American workers would even be capable of building vehicles up to their standard. Scotty made a video on Honda that mentioned this as well, but I unfortunately don't remember which one it was.

I'm pretty sure the ones made in Japan are far superior to the ones in the us which is unfortunate bc the corolla I own is apparently made in the us, so if you're in the market make sure you find one made in Japan if possible since most toyotas sold in the us are actually made here.

You should have added Mexico to that list, given that Toyota is moving some truck production to Mexico.
