I have an automatic 2010 Jeep Commander that has a little over a 100,000 miles now. I'm having to put coolant in it almost every week now. I don't notice any leaks on the ground so I don't think it is leaking out. The heater will stop working when it runs out and the temperature gauge will climb fast also. That's how I usually know when it is running out. When I put some in it will work fine. The thermostat has been replaced. It has a new water pump and alternator. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the thermostat and it worked fine for about a month and now has the same issue. I've had lots of problems with it over heating which I heard Jeep's do a lot. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.
It is most definitely being burned up in the engine from a bad head gasket or cracked head. Do you see any smoke from the tailpipe? Any sign of coolant in the oil?
With the amount of coolant you loose, you likely have a blown head gasket. You can test it yourself by using the kit Scotty mentions in his videos.
No I haven't noticed any coolant in the oil. Possibly smoke from the tailpipe. You think it's the head gaskets then? I was hoping that wasn't the problem.
Thanks for the comments. Appreciate it. Merry Christmas
Replace your radiator pressure cap.
