I have a 2005 Santa Fe base that is front wheel drive has the 4 speed auto and the 2.7 litre v6. The car has 300 000 km's. For probably a good 10 years now the car has had a bit of jerky acceleration and hesitant shifts. I saw a thing about transmission software updates on the Hyundai forums, anybody know how much that would cost? I also sometimes have a bit of a shaky idle and I also read from that forum about a bad EGR switcher valve? as far as I know that's for newer models because I'm pretty sure this engine has multi-port injection. I also think that my throttle body could just be dirty. any ideas for solutions for the transmission and jerky acceleration or the cost of a transmission update? also If the engine has an EGR switcher ornif it could just be a dirty throttle body?
300,000 km is around 262,000 miles. I'm honestly surprised it's lasted that long. That's around, if not beyond the lifespan of those transmissions. It's probably wearing out due to age, and the only way to get it to truly shift right again is a remanufactured transmission from Hyundai, if they even make one, still. Pumping thousands into an 18 year old Hyundai is way more than the car is worth. Hyundai isn't built to last, though their older products are generally better than the new ones.
As far as cleaning the throttle, they make specific throttle body cleaners that can be cheaply obtained.
