Aloha I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey with 200k miles
Runs great and always has, but today I needed to get some gas out of it for my other car, so i jumped the fuel pump relay, I thought I did it right but may have not.
May have not connected the paperclip to proper spots. Anyways it won't start now with the relay in.
I have checked all the fuses they are fine, I've tried taking it out and putting it back in.
Could I have really broke it by connecting the paperclip to wrong pins on the relay connector? I did so for only a few seconds, that's long enough to damage it?
I took fuel pump cover off, and don't hear it coming on.
So what broke the fuel pump motor or the wiring burned?
I just want to get it going again.
Can I just bypass the relay and do my own wiring job from fuel pump to a switch?
Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation
PGM-FI Main Relay 1 and 2
PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) is energized whenever the ignition switch is ON (II) to supply battery voltage to the PCM, power to the injectors, and power for PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP). PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) is energized to supply power to the fuel pump for 2 seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON (II), and when the engine is cranking or running.
So yeah, you could have fried the transistor in the PCM.
Grab a test light.
Here's the relay socket number assignments:

Here's the wiring diagram with the relay socket numbers. I highlighted Power in Red and the PCM Ground (to energize the relay) in Green.
Key On you should have Power on sockets 1 and 4. Power to socket 1 comes from Fuse 19. Power to socket 4 comes from the PGM-F1 Main Relay 1.
If you didn't damage the transistor in the PCM you should have Ground on socket 3 for two seconds when you turn the ignition to ON

If you don't have Ground for 2 seconds on socket 3 check for circuit codes. Typically the PCM will monitor current and if it detected a short to Power it may have shut down the circuit until the code is cleared
Can I just bypass the relay and do my own wiring job from fuel pump to a switch?
You can if you want to make things worse.
Anyways it won't start now with the relay in.
are you saying it starts without the relay?
Did you try swapping the relay?
It won't start with the relay. I have no extra relays. I tried a couple relays that fit, but isn't working with those
My buddy just wired a kill switch so I'm guessing we can do a fuel pump switch.
*I just jumped it the right way with no fuse and started up, but the paperclip got hot pretty quick, is it safe to drive it like this* jumped with a paperclip and no relay
I meant no relay, the fuel pump fuse is in there
So I was thinking I can take the wire out at same time as turning off the car so there's no gas going thru lines with car off
I already answered
You can't try other relays that fit because that relay has a diode built into it
Check fuses, visually check relay wiring, and test the relay itself. If they're good you need to get into the wiring with a multimeter or test light and do basic electrical troubleshooting to find the fault.
