Three months ago, I bought a 2012 Nissan Frontier with automatic transmission, V6, and 65,000 miles. The truck appeared in great shape from the outside and the interior was clean. A few weeks after getting it, I lost power steering and had to get the camshaft position sensor replaced. Then, a rod broke and I have now had to replace the engine with a rebuilt one. Here is my question: should I think of having this rebuilt engine as having a "new" truck and it should run for years, or should I think of this as now that I have it running again, sell it ASAP because who knows what will break next? I appreciate the feedback!
Sell it. A new "rebuilt" motor does not a new truck make. I'd get as much as I could back out of it and move on.
Where did you buy this rebuilt engine from? I would sell it now because of you didn't buy this motor from a professional mechanic then you're going to have more problems down the road.
I did have a professional mechanic buy the rebuilt engine and install it. I should have said this in the original post, but the engine comes with a 5 year warranty on parts and labor.
What company rebuilt the engine?
Mechanic told me Powertrain Products Inc.
Do you have any warranty for the engine?
Yes, it came with a 5 year/unlimited miles warranty.
