What are your thoughts on the success of the Kia Carnival and Telluride? Anything concerning you see or has Kia made some progress on their recent bigger v6 vehicles attempting to make up for recent issues (engine fires, lack of immobilizers).
Both seem to be getting rave reviews from users and sites like consumer reports. considering a Carnival over a Sienna as the infotainment in Sienna is extremely dated and Carnival interior is 10x better and drives nicer in my opinion. Am I crazy?
Those "rave reviews" are looking at features and don't take longevity into account. (Who the heck cares about "infotainment"? It doesn't even sound like a real word. Is it more important than reliability and long life?)
Has Kia gotten better? I wouldn't bet on it with my money.
Thanks Chuck. I can clarify on infotainment I mean the dashboard electronics, interior / exterior cameras, etc. They are of better quality / more updated in the Kia and make for a more enjoyable experience for the minivan life moving around little kids.
I know this could also mean they are more prone to problems later down the road, typically more electronics = more problems, and these vehicles are still relatively new, only been around a handful of years. But what I haven’t seen from my research is any indications yet of mechanical issues or early warning signs with these specific Kia models , so just curious if others have?
My preference would be something that has a simple radio but will run for decades and hundreds of thousands of miles with few issues. Given Kia's long reputation for poor quality there is no reason to believe these new models will fare any better in that regard than their previous efforts.
they were always getting "rave reviews". Probably from "incentivized" reviewers. It doesn't mean anything.
I sure as heck aren't gambling my money on fireballs.
By a quick search of reviews on edmunds, from actual owners, no, they aren't any better.
Amazing how many horrible reviews from both of their 2023 models.
Yea I checked Edmunds. Hard to get a good read there, either people really love it or hate it. Saw same thing with Sienna, which had a lower overall customer review score on edmunds than the carnival which shocked me
