Unleaded fuel has been the status quo as long as I’ve been around. I have no experience with leaded fuel.
How is leaded fuel functionally different than unleaded?
How did the transition from leaded fuel to unleaded fuel go for you? smooth? or rough? How so?
What would happen if you put leaded fuel into an unleaded car? Or unleaded fuel into a leaded car?
The "lead" additive they used to put in gasoline was made for carbureted cars with no emission controls, the main problem was if it sat for around 6 months it get sticky kinda like tar would, unlike these days how it just evaporates.
A classic car can run on unleaded fuel, I know this because I've been doing it for a while now.
However, I wouldn't try running a new car on leaded fuel, I have no idea what would happen lol.
The lead cushioned the valve seats in older engines.
As I was told, lead is not used anymore because it is too toxic. But it is still used in aviation fuel. Where I live you can get additives that substitute lead for leaded engines since there are sitll some old cars and motorbikes around.
