Dear Scotty, I have a 2008 Volvo XC70 that I took to the dealer for 95K routine maintenance and to have the windshield washer pump replaced. It took the dealership over a month to solve the washer pump issue.
First they said the pump didn’t need replacing; I had a leak in the headlamp washers and the valves needed to be replaced (which requires removal of the front end of the car). When I came to pick the car up, the headlamp washers didn’t work. They took the car back and delete that the pump needed to be replaced.
I came back to pick up the car over 2 weeks later, and now the check engine light is on. They took the car back and are now claiming it’s the leak detection pump in the evap system. I asked why this wasn’t discovered during the routine maintenance, and the dealership is blaming it on “bad timing.”
I know this is an older model car, but I wasn’t having any problems beside the washer pump before I took the car in, and the bungled that so bad, I’m convinced they somehow caused this problem. Am I crazy? I definitely won’t be going back to this dealership again. Please advise.
Forgot to add: the vehicle is the 3.5 6-cylinder inline engine with AWD. Less than 100K miles on it.
Am I crazy?
It could be bad timing, or it could be ineptitude. You probably won't be able to prove it either way.
I definitely won’t be going back to this dealership again.
Not a bad idea. I would go even further and say don't go to ANY dealership or quick lube shop.
