Hey Scotty,

I found a Lexus ES 300 with 88k miles with v6 3.0 liter for $6,000. Is it great deal or should I be aware of something about it?

Always be aware.

What year?

2005 es300 with 88k miles

Have it checked by a mechanic before you buy it.

In your response to @G.T. you state that the ES300 is a 2005 but the facebook ad states that it is a 2002. 2003 was the final model year of the ES300. Anyway it certainly looks clean and in very good condition inside and out, but more important is how well the engine and transmission have been serviced. It would be good to have service records regarding oil and filter changes, transmission fluid changes, air filter, engine coolant, brake and power steering fluid, etc. Something else to consider is that in another 12k miles it will be due a timing belt and water pump replacement. Also the seller mentioned that it had two previous owners. Does that mean the current owner is the third?
If it has been meticulously maintained mechanically and passes the scrutiny of a qualified mechanic, even at that age it is a fine vehicle with a smooth as silk V6 engine and transmission, very comfortable and quiet ride and reliability that tops the scale. And if the 88k miles is accurate this car should have a lot of life remaining in it. It’s a fine, quality built and reliable car for $6k. What other comparable car could you buy for that price? But certainly try to negotiate a lower price…most sellers expect that and inflate the asking price accordingly. But if it has not been properly serviced, especially oil and filter changes every 5k miles, I would pass it by. That 1MZ-FE engine is known to have oil sludge problems when the oil was not changed on schedule.

$6000 for an 18 year old car? Are you kidding?  $1500 max.

Are YOU kidding? Show me where I can get a low mileage Lexus that runs for $1500. I'll buy it right now.

Well I would never buy one (don't care for them) but usually that's about all I will pay for an old sled. Last one I bought was from Pick N Pull for $1100 and thought that was too much! Nearly ten years later I've still got it and it still runs so I must be doing something right. LOL

It clean and good running engine. Y'all know the prices for them are high especially Toyota

It's funny that the seller is proud of the fact that it's almost a zero highway miles it's actually not a good thing

Yeah, I'm spectacle about it and I already sent him messages on it history.
