Scotty... Wish I've seem your video about turbo cars before buying the car, but here we are. I've got a manual 2017 lexus is200t with 50k miles in it, but bought it when it had 20k miles. I plan to keep it 10+ years so my question would be, is it a good idea to put an intercooler and header in it to better dissipate heat? If not, what would you recommend? Thanks!
I would recommend leaving it bone stock.
It already comes with an intercooler from the factory and you would be wasting money upgrading it as Lexus spent a ton of R&D on their design. You also don't want to do anything with headers as they generate a lot of heat and also cause all kinds of quirky issues.
If you want the absolute most life out of the car, maintain it per the manufacturer's guidelines and don't tinker with it. Reliability always suffers once you start swapping parts and if you are going for longest life span of the vehicle, stock is the best way.
