Scotty - I truly enjoy watching your channel on youtube and appreciate all you do.

Watched your video about the SC with 698k miles. You have me scratching my head because your working on a car that has been running for 698k miles, yet you say stay away from it because of maintenance and repair issues.

I was thinking of buying a 2002 SC430 with a good Carfax showing regular dealer maintenance and a current mileage of around 60k.

The timing belt and brake pads were changed at 43k about 9 yrs ago.

Do you think it's a mistake to take this one into my stable? I would be driving it around 5k miles per year.

Thanks and have a nice day. YeeHaw!!

The best thing to do to a car is to drive it daily and keep up with regular maintenance, that's how that car had almost 700k miles, the repair history must be long af if regular maintenance was applied. Same thing could happen to my current bmw but that's if I dump money into it lol.

Before you buy I would get the belt checked out, if it's 9 years thats pretty old for just sitting in the same position kind of, check for cracks and the what not.

If you are only gonna drive it once in a while let it heat up before you take it out that way the oil can flow throughout the engine and you would have to do oil changes more often than that once a year just to keep it fresh probably. Other maintenance will probably be required especially in colder areas, and it's a luxury brand no matter how old so repairs will be more expensive then that of a toyota.

In the video the miles are probably highway miles than city driving. I don't remember off the top of my head but it was something like 1-7? Don't quote me on that. So one city mile is like 7 highway miles.
